Statistics: Russia’s annual inflation slows to 4.6% in February
MOSCOW, Mar 7 (PRIME) -- Russia’s annual inflation slowed to 4.6% in February from 5% in January, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Tuesday.
In monthly terms, inflation decelerated to 0.2% in February from 0.6% in January.
In January–February, consumer prices grew 0.8%.
In 2016, inflation amounted to 0.6% in monthly terms and 8.1% in annual terms in February, and stood at 1.6% in January–February, the service said.
Food prices went up 0.2% in February, while prices for non-food also rose 0.2% and for services 0.3%.
Food inflation slowed to 0.2% in February from 0.9% in January and decreased to 3.7% from 4.2% in annual terms.
Onion and grapes prices went up 4.8% and 4.6%, respectively, while carrot, potato, pear and lemon prices grew 2.2–3.5%. Orange prices fell 4.9%, and prices for cucumbers, tomatoes, beet, and dried fruit decreased 0.3–0.9%.
Prices for sour cream, curd and sterilized milk rose 0.8–0.9%.
Prices for buckwheat decreased 1.8%, millet prices decreased 0.4%, and rice prices went down 0.1%.
